Anticipation High for RTG’s new Dragon Orb Slot

Dragon Orb Thunderbolt Slot from RTG gains momentum ahead of Sept 20 launch.

RTG Dragon Orb Thunderbolt SlotOne week from today, online casinos powered by RealTime Gaming (RTG) are anticipating an influx of activity on the slots. That’s the day the long-time developer of interactive gambling content will release its latest mobile slots creation, Dragon Orb Thunderbolt.

On the whole, new RTG slots don’t make a lot of headlines. The developer isn’t known to do anything to innovative or exceptional in the way of graphics and features. But this game is causing quite a stir as the company preps for release on Wednesday, September 20, 2017.

It’s not the theme alone that’s got players stirring. The whole dragon/oriental motif has been done before – many, many times. It’s also not the fact that it’s been optimized for all operating systems (desktop, smartphone, and tablet).

It’s more a combination of these factors, plus the immense 3D quality graphics and a one very player-friendly wild symbol. Plus, a lot of RTG casinos are guaranteeing free spins on the game, day of launch.

Dragon Orb Slot RTG

Dragon Orb Thunderbolt is a 5 reel, 10 payline slot machine that pays in both directions, left to right, and right to left. It’s encased by a stunning, moonlit background that I, for one, would be proud to set as my desktop wallpaper, were that an option (nudge-nudge-RTG).

The symbols include traditional Chinese imagery, highlighted by the fierce dragon and the magical orb it so honorably protects. Players will be looking to line up golden dragon statues, parchment scrolls, Ming vases, flickering candles and other thematic emblems.

The Dragon Orb, an iridescent crystal ball clutched tightly within the blood-red talons of the mighty dragon, is the Wild. It will substitute for all other symbols. While it does not multiply any winnings, it does have other extraordinary capabilities. First, the Dragon Orb is an Expanding Wild meaning it will spread to cover the entire reel upon which it lands. Once it does, all winnings are paid normally, but it’s not over yet.

The Dragon Orb then holds in place for a free Re-Spin of all other reels. Should another wild appear during the re-spin, it will also trigger the Expanding Wild, holding all wild positions for another Re-Spin.

Potential Drawbacks of Dragon Orb Slot

Unfortunately, the Dragon Orb can only appear on reels 2, 3 and 4, so there won’t be any full-screen-wild payouts.

Another negative aspect of Dragon Orb Thunderbolt is that it doesn’t have any scatter or bonus symbol. Thus there are no free spins to trigger (outside of the free re-spin feature), and no other bonus rounds to help rack up wins.

The game has a relatively low max payout of just 250 coins for lining up the 5 of the highest paying symbols. However, RTG did infuse this new mobile slots game with a pair of progressive jackpots. The Minor Jackpot seeds at 2,500, and the Major at 10,000. There’s no specific way to unleash the big prize, though. It’s a random feature that can trigger at any moment, following a winning or losing spin.

The key to this game’s success lies solely in the frequency of wilds landing on the reels. We’ll find out just how lucky the Dragon Orb slot is when it launches on September 20.
