MPN Out, Progressive SnG Hold’Em Poker In

Microgaming Scraps MPN for Progressive Hold’Em Poker SnG GamesMicrogaming scraps MPN for progressive Hold’Em Poker SNG games.

Over the summer, Microgaming announced the regretful dissolution of its MPN online poker network. MPN (formerly Microgaming Poker Network) was a popular network that had been performing well, attracting countless poker players for much of its 16 years. Now, the revelation of Microgaming’s real plan comes full circle.

Now for the good news… The iGaming juggernaut has just launched a worthy replacement with the release of Hold’Em Poker; the first in an upcoming collection of poker-style games coming to Microgaming online casinos.

Microgaming Introduces Progressive Hold’Em Poker SNG

In a recent press release, Microgaming announced the launch of its all new Hold’Em Poker game. According to the verbiage of the report, Hold’Em Poker is just one of a series of poker-oriented games that will be coming to the online casino platform.

“Hold’Em Poker is the first in a full suite of exclusive poker games scheduled for release by Microgaming,” reads the late-November press release. Microgaming promises the addition of follow-up titles, including one dubbed Lucky Showdown, expected to launch in the months ahead.

The debut of Hold’Em Poker indicates a fresh strategic direction for the world’s leading producer of digital gambling games. Microgaming describes Hold’em Poker as “a sophisticated brand of classic Texas hold’em which aims to immerse players in a realistic poker room environment, delivering an exclusive online casino experience.”

The Concept of Progressive SNG Hold’Em Poker

Hold’Em Poker gives players a fresh look at the most iconic poker variant of all time – Texas Hold’em. Microgaming’s vision for the game offers players a realistic, fast-paced environment, where a €5 buy-in purchases a seat in a Sit’n’Go (SNG) tournament, specially optimised for mobile play.

Each new game begins with the spinning of a prize wheel. The wheel stops on a random value, indicating the prize pool for which all participants are competing to win. To make things more exciting, the developers added a progressive jackpot to the prize wheel, seeding at a generous €25,000, and growing exponentially higher until it’s won.

Hold’Em Poker debuted at select Microgaming online casinos on December 1, followed by a full-scale global release across all Microgaming casinos on December 9.

Comments & Answers From the Head Microgaming

John Coleman, Microgaming’s Executive in Chief, hailed the new online poker variant for its ability to “add a new dimension to our online casino vertical, introducing a range of fun and exciting poker games to our platform.”

He goes on to explain the Hold’Em Poker’s intended design concept to “appeal to both poker and casino players.” Launching the poker games on a casino platform accomplishes this easily enough, but the immersive, fast-paced experience is also sure to attract casino gamers by delivering “even further choice to our customers as we continue to diversify and innovate our content offering,” concludes Coleman.

In case any fans of Microgaming’s former poker network are wondering, yes, these new progressive Hold’Em Poker SNG games are nearly identical to the old Fish Party games on MPN. Just like the Fish Party lottery SNGs of old, Hold’Em Poker will feature three-seater tables with a random prize, determined by the spin of a wheel, and a progressive jackpot, to boot. Perhaps Microgaming is looking to bring back all the best qualities of the former MPN, without the added expense of a separate poker platform?
