12 New Digital Slots for May 20, 2021, by RTP (High to Low)

12 New Digital Slots for May 20, 2021, by RTP (High to Low)It was a big day for interactive slots fans as the industry saw more than a dozen new titles hit the virtual shelves this morning. They’re coming from all angles – big names like NetEnt, PlayTech and Wazdan, as well as some smaller (but equally awesome) studios like Iron Dog and Origins.

Today, we’re going to take a closer look at these new titles to see what kinds of slot machines are being published on any given day. Specifically, we’re curious about the average return to player (RTP) being programmed into today’s online slots, and how they compare to the digital slots of yesteryear.

12 New Digital Slots for May 20, 2021, by RTP (High to Low)

I’m not going to go into too much detail with each game. We’ll just cover the basics here – theme, reels, betways, and of course, RTP. As I said, I’ll list them in order of highest to lowest RTP (highest being best).

#1 King of Cats (w/ Player Select) by BTG – 96.7%

This new slot machine, inspired by the world’s largest and most ferocious felines – namely the lion and the puma – features an exotic jungle theme, and the largest RTP of today’s multifarious releases, 96.7%. The Player Select feature means that players can choose the lion or puma to be the main character of the reels. Doing so also changes the features within the game. Don’t worry, you can switch back and forth any time. This 6-reel slot is also imbued with Megaways, delivering up to 117,649 ways to win in a single spin.

#2 Hat Trick Hero by Betsoft – 96.23%

An exclusive from Betsoft, Hat Trick Hero takes the number two spot with a 96.23% RTP. It’s not all about hats, though. As any genuine sports fan would know, Hat Trick Hero is all about soccer (or football, as they call it in Europe). It’s got 5×3 reels paying out on 25 betways.

#3 Knights of Fortune by Spearhead Studios – 96.2%

Spearhead Studios sends players back to medieval times with Knights of Fortune. The 5×3 reels are filled with the heroes of the realm, their gallant gear, and studded card values of 9-A, paying in all ways from left to right. Its packed with free spins, wilds, multipliers and cascading reels. All this charm, and a 96.2% RTP to boot.

#4 Prosperity Pearls: Hold the Jackpot by Wazdan – 96.15%

If you were thinking rich old women in gaudy necklaces, think again. Prosperity Pearls has an Oriental theme – like so many of their fan-favorite titles. The pearl in questions is held in the grips of a lithe dragon. You can get your hands on it approximately 96.15% of the time – that being the game’s RTP.

#5 HippoPop by AvatarUX Studios – 96.1%

This poppin’ slot from AvatarUX Studios delivers a big hippo-sized punch with 5×3 reels that pay in both directions for a total of 65,536 paying lines. Its neon highlighted reels are reminiscent of a jungle rave turned bad acid trip. But it’s cool, if you like that kinda thing. There are no wilds or scatter symbols to trigger exciting features, but the PopWins mechanic can help string together wins. Similar to cascading reels, PopWins eliminates all winning symbols and fills those spaces with random replacements. It’s 96.1% RTP is on par with industry standards.

#6 Parthenon: Quest for Immortality by NetEnt – 96.03%

Yes, NetEnt has brought us yet another Greek Mythology slot machine. Parthenon: Quest for Immortality, takes us back to ancient Rome, where 6×5 reels pay out across 10,555 betways. The wins don’t come frequent, but they do pay relatively high when they do. When the free spins and other features kick in, its 96.03% RTP pays out.

#7 Lava Gold by Betsoft – 96.02%

Betsoft’s second release of the day, Lava Gold, hurls players back in time to the Jurassic age, where dinosaurs roamed the land. It comes with a nominal 96.02% RTP. Its Custer Pays mechanic and low volatility keep the wins coming, but with pays that are more often lower than the stake.

#8 Rhino Blitz by Origins (for Playtech) – 95.96%

Origins’ new Rhino Blitz Slot, featuring Jackpot Blitz, is a virtual safari though the wild plains of the Serengeti. Featuring a 6×4 reel set, it pays out across 4096 betways. While that 95.96% RTP seems a smidgen under the industry average, the fact that there’s a four-tier progressive jackpot in the mix makes it a lot more valuable.

#9 Astro Nets Megaways by Iron Dog Studio – 95.9%

If the name didn’t give away the theme (it didn’t for me), Iron Dog’s new Astro Newts Megaways is a alien adventure of galactic proportions. Varying positions appear along the rows of 6 reels, delivering up to 117,649 betways per spin. Expanding wilds, free spins and other features help to ensure a 95.9% RTP does its job.

#10 The WiseCracker: Lightning by Red Tiger – 95.75%

The WiseCrackers takes a myriad of popular slot machine themes and merges them all into one. Fancifully adorned jokers, 7s, bells and fruits take center stage. Everything about The Wisecracker is classical in design, from the lucky red and gold theme, to the 5×3 reels with 10 bet lines. It lacks a bit in the payout department, with a below average RTP of 95.75%.

#11 Aztec: Expedition Thundershots by Playtech – 95.5%

Playtech’s new Aztec: Expedition Thundershots is a 6×4 reel slot featuring ancient relics, sought by Spanish conquistadors, hunted by dangerous creatures of the rain forest. The design isn;t all that special, nor is the 95.5% RTP they chose to program it with. I suspect they’re relying on the similarity to Playtech’s ultimately famous Gonzo’s Quest series to attract players.

#12 Scroll of Dead by Play’n GO – 94.28%

Last and very much least, Play’n Go infused a meager 94.28% RTP into its brand new Scroll of Dead Slot. In the last few months, any slot starting with “Book of” has gotten a great deal of attention. I suppose changing Book to Scroll could be enough to pique player curiosity. The same as building it across 6 reels might be enough to hide its minimal 10 pay lines. As artful as its rendering may be, I have to advise a pas son this one.
