One Roulette Strategy that Works

No strategy can give you an edge in Roulette, except this one.

No Strategy can Give You an Edge in Roulette, Except This OneI’ve come across countless books and websites that swear they offer roulette strategies that work. Then they all spew forth the same garbage, failing to shift the game’s edge in any direction. If you don’t shift the edge into the player’s favor, you cannot change the odds so that you win more often than you lose.

Most realists will tell you there is no way to alter the edge (without cheating, of course). For the most part, that’s right. Betting systems won’t do it. Seeking out history-based patterns won’t help you. Playing French Roulette with La Partage (instead of American or European roulette) will push the edge less in the casino’s favor, but it won’t turn it to the player’s advantage.

These three commonly touted roulette strategies don’t work because they can’t raise a player’s win rate high enough to ensure a profit. But there is one scenario that, if you are observant enough to identify, can shift the advantage into the player’s favor. It has nothing to do with the number, but the croupier.

Can the Croupier Give You an Edge in Roulette?

Before I go any further, heed this important note. The following roulette strategy can only be used in a land-based casino where a live croupier is spinning the wheel. It will not work online, or on any electronic table, where the outcome is decided by a random number generator (RNG). These games are entirely random, and cannot become predictable based on outlying factors.

What sets live roulette tables apart is the way the croupier engages with the wheel. Although rare, it is possible for a croupier to get into a pattern of spinning the wheel in a repetitive way. After years of doing so, he or she may set the wheel spinning with a similar amount of force every time. They might also drop the ball at the same time, such as when the green pocket is nearest or further from them.

You may be thinking hey, wait a minute, isn’t that cheating? Is this croupier trying to help observant players win more often? And if so, couldn’t you get in trouble for exploiting it? The truth is, they rarely even realize they’re doing it. It’s a simple matter of monotony – of doing the same thing over and over, for so long, that their actions become more mechanical than intentional.

There’s actually a name for it. They call it a signature, and the real pros have been taking advantage of them for years. Of course, now that the word is out, casinos know about it too. Unfortunately, that means most roulette dealers are warned not to get into a monotonous rut, and if they do, the surveillance crew may catch on and put a stop to it. But if you can recognize it first, you can at least exploit it until the party’s over.

How To Exploit a Roulette Croupier Signature

One Roulette Strategy that Works - roulette Croupier Signature QuadrantsWhat you need to watch for is the wheel stopping in the same quadrant more than 25% of the time. Let me explain…

You can divide a roulette wheel into four basic quadrants. Each will contain about 9 numbers. As you’re casually placing low bets like almost everyone else, you should be observing the croupier and all of the numbers that appear. If more than 25% of the wins occur in a single quadrant, you may have identified a signature roulette croupier.

There are two ways to go about exploiting this. The first is to place a bet on every number in the corresponding quadrant. If you can win more than 25% of these bets, it will give you an edge in roulette. The other is to bet on all numbers in the identified quadrant, as well as all numbers in the quadrants to the left and right of it. This requires bets on about 3/4 of the wheel, so you’ll need to win more than 75% of your wagers for this method to be effective.
