Microgaming’s new HQ the Coolest Place to Work in 2017

Mobile casino software giant Microgaming has another reason to be proud of its new HQ.

Microgaming Mobile Casino Software HQEarlier this year, Microgaming held the grand opening of its new headquarters in Douglas, Isle of Man. The online and mobile casino games development company was extremely proud of its new office. Now, they have even more reason to boast.

Last week, company CEO Roger Raatgever proudly announced the recently finished office, known as Sixty-Two, has been named among the UK’s ‘10 Coolest Office of 2017‘. That’s quite an achievement, especially receiving the honor alongside several of the biggest consumer brands in the region.

The title was bestowed on Microgaming by job site Adzuna, and featured in the October 26 edition of The Telegraph. Other companies mentioned in the article include the Victorian castle-style offices of Money.co.uk, food delivery service Deliveroo, accounting firm PKF Cooper Parry, health and beauty chain Superdrug, Basildon-based roastery Costa Coffee, daily deals site Itison, soapworks factory TalkTalk, chocolatier Lindt & Srpungli, and – of course – the new Amazon office in Shoreditch.

“We have been enjoying the new building and its facilities for a little over three months now and feedback from staff has been incredibly positive,” said Raatgever in a statement accepting the esteemed compliment. “Our presence on the Isle of Man continues to grow with over 120 staff at Sixty Two and nine vacancies currently listed on our website.”

Built adjacent to Microgaming’s existing office, known as Twenty-Six, the work space really is something to marvel at. The two offices adjoin on an all-window sky bridge on the third floor of the five-story HQ building. That alone is unique, creating a campus-style work environment, but it’s the interior that really impresses.

Within the capacious office, which houses 120 very happy Microgaming employees, are multiple types of work stations. As described by Microgaming, “there are hot desks, standing desks, work booths and break-out areas on each floor”.

The employees have every possible comfort and convenience in their work space, but that wasn’t enough. The designers of the floor plan took it up another notch. The entire fourth floor is a communal recreation area, “[encouraging] staff to take time out away from their desks”. This area features a library and other fun activities to get the creative juices flowing. Employees can brainstorm while playing table tennis, darts, pool, poker and more.

Sixty-Two a Modern Marvel, Inside and Out

There’s also a fully-equipped fitness room and spa treatment area. Up on the roof, the company planted grass and a lush garden. Here, employees can enjoy gorgeous, panoramic views of the island via periscope.

“To feature in the list of ‘The 10 coolest offices of 2017’, standing alongside some of the biggest consumer brands in the UK, is a fantastic achievement,” says company CFO, John Coleman.

“A lot of time and effort went into designing and creating a building that was not only fit-for-purpose from a business perspective, but allows employees to thrive and feel empowered. I am very proud of what we have created.”

Creating an environment that employees can thrive in wasn’t the only purpose, though. Microgaming shelled out a lot of extra Euros to ensure the environment itself was unequivocally protected. The company put so much effort into the environmentally-friendly nature of its Sixty-Two office, it receive the highest possible BREAM rating of Excellence.
